Thinking about change

Editor's comment November 2023.

Hello lovely readers! I was just looking back at my comment for the penultimate issue of 2022 and it got me thinking about how time flies and how, by doing a year-by-year comparison, you can see how much has changed.

We'd love to hear how you think pharmacy has changed over the past year - both bad and good - so please do get in touch at: tm@1530.com. What hasn't changed is the excellent care, advice and accessibility provided by community pharmacy staff like yourselves.

Our features this month have a wintery feel to them and really highlight the needs of your elderly customers. I implore you to pay extra special care to this cohort throughout the winter. The ongoing cost of living crisis may deter many of them from putting the heating on in order to try and save money but the cold can really take a toll on their health. We have plenty of helpful advice in our older people's health feature, including vaccine advice for the 2023/24 season.

I personally am not feeling at all in the Christmas mood as of yet, but as I write this the lights on Carnaby Street, which are outside our office windows, are being turned on this evening so perhaps that will help. To further lift spirits, I'd recommended reading about the fantastic pharmacy manager in our Staff in the spotlight feature and remember, if you work with someone who you think should be in the spotlight, please get in touch. Have a super month and we will see you, hopefully feeling more festive, in December.
